Incoming President’s Message: Value for Members
By Karen Pfau-Martinez, CPA
Today I am presenting my first message as incoming chapter president. It is an honor to be representing you. It is my hope that at some point during this year I will be able to meet more of you and to find out what you appreciate about this professional association of ours.
It appears that the economy has taken its toll on some members. I see this in a small decline in membership, especially for licensed members greater than five years and associate members. Over the last few years we have placed considerable resources at the student and candidate membership level and our chapter has grown markedly in these areas because of these efforts. One good effect has been that candidate members are converting to full voting membership upon receiving their license.
But for those of you out there who have been members for many years, I need a dialogue with you to help me direct our committees and discussion groups to plan programs that offer you real value, whether this is in the form of CPE or networking. This e-bulletin is interactive. You can leave your comments here and I will review items posted and comment.
When you are a member of anassociation, you get out of it what you put in. That is why I am your incoming president. I am proud to be a CPA and a member of this association. I want CalCPA to be the membership that supplies value and support to you and your firm.
