Bay Area Firms Sponsor Free Tax Services
Five Bay Area accounting firms are sponsoring free tax preparation services in low-income neighborhoods. KPMG, Deloitte, Seiler LLP, Daoro Zydel & Holland, and Rowbotham & Co. LLP will sponsor Tax-Aid sites in San Francisco and San Jose.
Tax-Aid is seeking additional firms to sponsor its remaining 16 sites in five counties. Interested firms should contact executive director Kristy Koberna.
In addition, Tax-Aid has many opportunities for CalCPA members to volunteer. Volunteering is easy and there are ways to help that do not require tax expertise, including providing translation services. Tax-Aid provides equipment, software and training. A typical volunteer donates 10 to 12 hours on a couple of Saturdays in February and March. Chapter members interested in receiving more information on volunteering for Tax-Aid should send an e-mail with their name, firm, address, phone and e-mail to msage@kpmg.com. Specific details will be sent out via e-mail in early December.
