Golfing … and More
By David Chavez, CPA
Summer is definitely here. I know that a lot of us are more comfortable in slacks and a dress shirt than shorts and a polo shirt, but it’s time to replace the green visor with a ball cap and enjoy our weather.
It’s a slow time of the year for some firms. We’re retooling our golf games and hoping that the rest of our receivables from the busy season are collected soon. We have the perfect opportunity to golf and have a great time with chapter members. Believe me, I need the practice. Our chapter’s 47th annual golf tournament is Aug. 26 at Morgan Creek Golf & Country Club in Roseville at 11a.m. You are welcome to invite your clients to join you on a team. The tournament is a friendly game with an edge of competition. It’s definitely one of our chapter’s best events of the year.
Our tournament is also our largest fund-raiser of the year for the scholarship fund, which provides us an opportunity to give scholarships to accounting students in the Sacramento area. The tournament usually sells out, so register today. For more information, contact Dana Agosti or visit our website. I hope to see you out there.
As I have previously mentioned, there are various benefits CalCPA provides to the CPA community. Be sure to go to our website and look at the committees that relate to what you do or are interested in doing. You can also find information on chapter committees and discussion groups online. By signing up, we can better provide you with the information and resources you want. Our committee meeting attendance has been particularly strong this year and we want to continue that momentum. Those of you who have attended the various meetings have really been active participants, and the committee chairs really appreciate your contributions.
As always, I would love to hear any comments, suggestions or questions you may have. You can contact me via e-mail. I promise to read and respond to every question.
