Change
By David R. Motes, CPA
Change is a common word today. It is happening now and at our national levels, our communities, our businesses, our families and at our Sacramento Chapter. During the current term, your chapter leadership has formed a new committee and will sponsor several new events this year.
The first that I would like to mention is the QuickBooks User Group. This committee is still in the formation stages, but has held two successful luncheon meetings via “Go to Meeting.” In addition, the Tax Committee and the Estate and Financial Planning Committee are sponsoring a joint three-hour CPE program Nov. 12 relating to the income tax, estate tax and investment planning strategies for pre- and post-inauguration given the upcoming change in administration in Washington, D.C. Please refer to information in this newsletter for specific details regarding this outstanding program.
I have received positive feedback on this program due to the topics being presented, as well as to the timing of the event. In addition, your chapter will be sponsoring a social networking event Feb. 3 for attorneys, bankers, CPAs CLUs, CFPs and other financial planning partners. This event will be held at the Sutter Club and will provide everyone with the opportunity to mingle with other professionals and to make new acquaintances that could lead to new business opportunities for all of the participants. This event occurs right before the start of tax season, so mark your calendars now. The enthusiasm for and the support of this event have been very positive from all of the business professionals with whom I have spoken.
As I have mentioned in previous messages, your chapter leadership is about communication between our members and offering new committees and events that you would like to see. To accomplish this, it is important that you tell us what the chapter is doing for our members that you like and what you do not like. In addition, please let us know of any new activities or committees that you would like to see. I am requesting your honest feedback so chapter leadership can review and evaluate our past activities and develop new ones that our members have a strong passion and interest for—and are willing to make a commitment to support. This is your opportunity to help us to plan the future of your chapter. Please take a moment and either blog on this site or send me an e-mail with your constructive thoughts. All ideas are welcomed.
This is your chapter and your leadership chooses to provide you with the events and benefits that you are seeking. I look forward to receiving your feedback.
Changes are happening! Be a contributor in defining our chapter’s future.
