President's Message

By David D. Boyce
The new CalCPA year is under way with lots of events on the calendar to meet our varied needs as accounting professionals in the Sacramento region.
Our chapter leadership team gathered May 9 at the Sutter Club for a four-hour planning meeting to chart our course for the coming 12 months. As we met, I was impressed with the quality of our leadership and their willingness to go the extra mile to ensure that our events are of the highest quality and benefit. The meeting began with introductions and a general discussion about goals, and culminated with each committee chair providing a general outline of their plans for the coming year.

Chapter News
Our legislative successes last year were won with a lot of effort by CalCPA and its members. We need to continue to build and develop relationships with our state senators and assembly members. To continue to effectively represent the profession going forward, we need to strengthen these relationships and build new ones. Term limits make this process that much more important.
Do you personally know your senator or assembly member or one of their staff? Would you like to get involved in future grassroots government relations effort and help CalCPA and the profession? We are not asking for a major time commitment, send a couple of e-mails during the year and make an occasional visit to a district office with fellow CalCPA members. Please contact Patrick Rogan or our chapter program associate Dana Agosti.
