President's Message

Being a native of Sacramento, I’ve grown to appreciate our city and the wonderful sense of community we enjoy in the region. Those of us that serve in leadership positions in CalCPA appreciate the dedication of our members and the strength of our business community. I began attending CalCPA committee meetings and discussion groups many years ago, taking a special interest in the Management of an Accounting Practice Committee. In my practice I often felt like a hypocrite, giving advice about running a successful business and planning for the future without taking care of business at home. What I’ve learned about managing an accounting practice—and from the people I have met—has made my business stronger and made me a better adviser.

This event—in which attorneys, bankers and CPAs, as well as other financial professionals mingle, create new relationships and rekindle old acquaintances—is a networking opportunity not to be missed. CalCPA News
CalCPA’s Accounting Education Committee is accepting nominations for the 2012-13 Outstanding Accounting Educator Award.
The award recognizes contributions to accounting education from demonstrated excellence in teaching and/or endeavors in research over a sustained period of time through:
- Excellence in teaching and mentoring, as evidenced by receiving various awards or citations;
- Educational innovation, including developing curriculum, case studies and new programs;
- Published articles in professorial or academic journals and/or written textbooks for use in accounting classes;
- Significant involvement in professional and/or academic societies and related activities.
Nominations are due by May 6. You may submit nominations online.
