For the past year, Menlo College has expanded its accounting class offerings into a full accounting major, under the leadership of professor Donna Little, who has worked with CalCPA for several years to promote our chapter scholarships to her students. When the college decided to create the accounting major, Little approached the chapter board and asked us to assist them in forming an advisory board.
Under the leadership of chapter past president and scholarship chair Sharon Selleck, a number of CalCPA members have been involved in this effort. Menlo has also established a Center for Financial Literacy, partnering with Citibank and CalCPA, and recently CalCPA member Jerry Nightingale, a member of the Accounting Advisory Board, was part of a panel discussion on financial literacy.
We look forward to continuing this partnership with Menlo and with other local colleges, such as College of San Mateo, Skyline College and Notre Dame de Namur University to enhance their accounting programs.
