Today’s young people need a strong foundation for making intelligent, lifelong, personal financial decisions. As a volunteer with JA Finance Park, you will help students navigate the world of personal finances as they assume the role of an “adult for the day.” At JA Finance Park, students are given a unique life situation card, which includes an income, marital status, even kids! Using this persona, students work to create a balanced monthly budget while making decisions regarding housing, transportation, insurance, savings, entertainment expenses and much more.
Volunteers are needed to mentor a small group of students throughout their day at JA Finance Park. No special budgeting expertise or preparation is necessary, and thorough training is provided for all volunteers.

A recent morning was different than the usual ones, in that it was to be followed by a memorable day in my life. I had to get ready to go to Universal Studios as a recipient of the chapter’s scholarship and the Charles Gumbiner Lou Savett Award for being an outstanding student in the greater Los Angeles area. When I walked into Universal Studios, I saw that I was the only one wearing professional attire, with a conservative black suit and tie, whereas others were wearing casual outfits, and were cheering and enjoying their weekend at Universal. I did not have a single moment of shyness, however, for being different among those thousands of people, since I was filled with the joy of achieving one of the dazzling accomplishments of my life so far.
