It Must Be June
By Johanna Sweaney Salt, CPA
Celebrating dads, grads, weddings, the end of school and planning summer vacations … it must be June! Although many of us will take some time to enjoy these summer months, you’ll want to put a few important, upcoming events on your calendar.
To start things off, your chapter leadership will spend Thursday, June 10 planning programs for the 2010–11 year. We’d like to know: What are your biggest professional challenges? Do you have a burning interest in a particular technical topic? If you have any comments, suggestions or ideas that you would like us to discuss, please contact a board member or committee chair. During the day we also will take into consideration the results of our chapter survey and look forward to introducing new and innovative events during the year. Watch your July Bulletin for more details.
Also in June, chapter members have a unique opportunity to see how CalCPA operates at a state level. The CalCPA and Education Foundation Annual Meeting will be held Thursday, June 24—right in our back yard at Disney’s Grand California Hotel. This meeting is open to all CalCPA members and offers a chance to meet with the talented men and women who are our leadership. Many of our wonderful staff members will be in attendance, as well. The following day, June 25, is the annual CalCPA Council meeting. Consider attending one or both days. Discounted Disneyland tickets are available to meeting attendees and their families. Contact program associate Monica Thompson for more details.
In the meantime, here’s to all the dads and grads, brides and grooms, family vacations and summer fun!
