Think Growth!

January 20th, 2012

By Jodie Rolih

2011-rolihI would like to wish everyone in the chapter a very Happy New Year! My wish is for a happy, healthy and prosperous 2012 for all.

I shared my 2012 resolutions and personal goals in my December President’s Message. I also have a couple of goals for the chapter.

Think Sexy!

June 24th, 2011

By Jodie Rolih

2011-rolihNow that I have your attention, let me explain why I have this headline. Chapter leaders recently held our annual leadership retreat at the Pines Resort in beautiful Bass Lake to discuss our goals and ideas for the year, as well as plan the year’s activities and events.

Our main discussion topic was attracting new CalCPA members. We tried something new to stimulate discussion and encourage ourselves to think outside the box. We broke out into small groups of four and each group was given the task of coming up with one or two words beginning with each letter of the alphabet on how to attract new CalCPA members.

Think Challenge!

May 26th, 2011

By Jodie Rolih

2011-rolihTax season has once again come and gone. Spring is here and things seem to have quieted down from the busy pace of the last few months. That being the case it seems to be the perfect time to try something different or take on a new challenge.

I recently returned from a few days of training in Washington, DC. The three-day course was designed as an interactive experience for CPAs who want to raise their expert witness skills. The course included personalized coaching, video review and critique and mock trail testifying. Anyone who knows me knows that public speaking is not at the top of my list of things to do. However, being able to do it well is crucial and essential to be successful in this field.

Think Involvement!

April 27th, 2011

By Jodie Rolih

As the incoming chapter president, I would like to thank a number of people for all of their hard work and dedication. First, Elaine Reule for all of her contributions, vision and enthusiasm as president; then to my fellow board members and committee chairs for their passion and continued involvement with CalCPA; and last, but certainly not least, our program associate Kay Coffin for everything she does to keep our chapter organized, efficient and running like a well-oiled machine.

All is Well that Ends Well

March 24th, 2011

By Elaine Reule

7_pres_sm_0_0_0As I sit here in a few of the spare moments I have during tax season and reflect on the past year, I can’t believe my term as chapter president is almost over. It has been an amazing ride that I have thoroughly enjoyed.

Survival

March 2nd, 2011

By Elaine Reule

7_pres_sm_0_0_0Survival. It’s the word of the day for the many of us who are deep in the midst of tax season. I know the last thing we all have time for is a lengthy article, so I’ll keep this short and sweet.

It’s Going To Be Interesting

January 26th, 2011

By Elaine Reule

7_pres_sm_0_0_0A group of more than 150 CalCPA members recently attended CPA Day at the Capitol Jan. 19, and what an exciting time to be in the accounting profession and play a vital role in upcoming legislation for 2011 and 2012. I have never considered myself a political individual, but after being involved with CalCPA members during our day in Sacramento and seeing legislation come forward that is pertinent to what I do everyday, it has become evident to me that my voice and vote do count.

What a Year

January 4th, 2011

By Elaine Reule

7_pres_sm_0_0_0I hope all of you had a wonderful and safe holiday. It appears quiet around us; the calm before the storm for many of us who are approaching tax season in just a few weeks.

For those of you who may not be aware, our chapter goes “dark” from February through April, so I want to take a moment to remind all of you about our last event until after tax season. Along with the Central California Blood Center, we are hosting the Second Annual Blood Drive the week of Jan. 10.

Count Your Blessings

November 30th, 2010

By Elaine Reule

7_pres_sm_0_0_0November was a busy month. With the election frenzy, our CalCPA Council meeting, the Young and Emerging awards banquet and Thanksgiving, it is surprising we even had time to breathe.

Great Times

November 1st, 2010

By Elaine Reule

7_pres_sm_0_0_0Our chapter hosted another successful Student Night Sept. 22. The evening was filled with wonderful networking, great food, an awesome presentation from CalCPA past chair Andrea Cope and best of all, we were able to give several scholarships to deserving recipients. It is amazing for me to be part of a chapter that rallies together to host such a successful event even in difficult economic times.
