Legacy and Responsibility
By Elaine Reule
The CalCPA Annual Members’ Business and Council meeting June 24–25 in Anaheim was an exciting time for everyone as we welcomed new CalCPA chair, Conrad Davis, who spoke about his legacy and responsibility to the profession and to our organization.
He urged all of us to leave value behind for the next generation—to leave the profession better than we found it by focusing on support, emerging leaders and advocacy.
As an organization, we have accomplished much this past year, but there is still much to be done. There are so many ways to connect to the profession—your profession. And there is no need to look further than our own chapter. With our financial literacy programs, legislative initiatives and local leadership programs just to mention a few, there are many opportunities for you to connect to the profession and leave it better than you found it.
I would also like to take a moment to congratulate Denise Patterson, one of our past presidents, who received one of two 2010 CalCPA Educator of the Year Awards. It was an honor to be at the ceremony and see her receive such a deserving award.
We have some exciting things coming our way, so keep an eye out in the Bulletin and e-mails for events and opportunities. As always, if you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact me.
